The MintBox Community Giveaway — a joint event with Avenues on March 7, 2026 — grew out of months of planning with the Resident Association.

This partnership was months in the making before anything was handed out. Working with the Resident Association, we designed a giveaway rather than a drop-off: families receive a box filled with soil and seeds and learn planting in the same visit, with turnout coming through the Association's own channels rather than outside advertising.
The MintBox Community Giveaway ran on March 7, 2026, hosted at Avenues at 259 10th Avenue as a collaboration between the school and Elliott-Chelsea Houses. We presented Growing Food in Small Spaces, demonstrated how the boxes work, and distributed MintBoxes to residents — the model we now bring to every partner: the organization brings the relationships, we bring the boxes and teach planting.
